About Us

The goal of HowlGuard Tactical, LLC is to design new technology that supports responsible firearm ownership and strategic storage.

Its flagship products, the HowlGuard Sentinel Core and the HowlGuard Sentinel Lite, are designed to support firearm owners and families in being aware of when firearms are accessed in their home. This can help prevent children from accessing firearms when they are not allowed, and it can increase communication around firearm access when someone in the home is struggling with mental or physical health challenges.

HowlGuard was founded by John Richardson who is a firearm owner, a veteran, a dad of 6 kids, and a suicide prevention researcher. He has worked at Stop Soldier Suicide, has created a website for firearm suicide prevention (sfsusa.org), and is geniunely interested in helping others be well.

John started HowlGuard Tactical in 2026 as a platform for designing new tools and sensors for firearm safety in the home.
